A brief history of the department

The first ever communication department in Pakistan was established in Bahawalpur in 1852, as an experimental station by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. After that, he set up a similar department at Aligarh Muslim University which eventually became part of All India Radio, broadcast in 1948 to cover largest parts of north India. In 1956, it was made a separate department under Ministry of Information. In March 1994, it was merged with Ministry of Culture & Arts (MoCA) and then renamed as Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (I&B). At present, it’s working under Information Technology Division KPK Government

In January, KPK govt announced for new organization of communication and works department of KPK. Number of total post is 543. Employees from services related organizations like PTCL will join here in coming months. For example, a world class line system is being constructed under backbone of Chief Minister Secretariat’s with help from Chinese companies. High ups decided to bring all line systems under single roof to improve them furthermore as well as to make them effective in service providing. After joining departments, we will be proud to say that workforce strength is one lakh 200 thousand which will increase further later on our own share in coming years after retirement season.
