Sukkur IBA University (Sukkur IBA) is one of the renowned universities in Pakistan, based in Sukkur, Sindh Province, Pakistan. The university was founded by the late Baba-e-Urdu Maulana Abdul Haq in 1993 and became operational from 1994 onwards. Sukkur IBA is located on the left bank of River Indus in the midst of tea gardens and mango orchards at a distance of 150 kilometres from Karachi and 360 kilometres from Lahore.
The Story Behind Sukkur IBA University
The story of IBA Sukkur dates back to 1972, when Mr. Khalid Mahmood Awan conceived an idea to start a college offering business education to students living in and around Sindh. The first student was enrolled into what was then known as Government College of Commerce and Economics on July 29, 1972. By 1980, it had started offering undergraduate degrees through affiliation with Sindh University’s Hyderabad campus. In 1983, Mr. Ayub Soomro joined as principal and took it upon himself to establish a separate college dedicated solely to business education—IBA Sukkur was born.

What does IIU Offer?
The school is based in Sukkur, but its students come from across Sindh province. The university’s grounds are spread over 500 acres and include three male dormitories, six female dormitories, dining halls, and prayer facilities. It also has a number of sports facilities and an international standard cricket stadium. IIU offers both undergraduate (Bachelors) and postgraduate (Masters) degrees to students—all of which can be studied online or on campus. The university also has several professional courses available that prepare students for jobs within industry rather than to enter academia. Mohammad Hanif Tarar, PhD (Sciences), MA (Philosophy) has been serving as Associate Professor at National College of Arts and Sciences, Islamabad since 2011. Dr. Tarar also serves as Visiting Faculty Member at Namal College of Education, Sialkot where he is assigned to organize postgraduate and undergraduate courses in art education. Dr. Mohammad Hanif Tarar was promoted to Assistant Professor on June 10, 2008 following an evaluation committee established by Federal Ministry of Education & Professional Training’s Strategic Management Unit. He has served as Assistant Professor at National College of Arts & Sciences since 2006 with teaching assignment responsibility covering subjects related to art education and aesthetics. Dr.

Admission Guideline 2019-2022
Offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses, admission to Sukkur IBA University is competitive. Students typically need high scores on standardized tests, such as GRE or GMAT, to be admitted to top programs. To apply for admission to SUKIRA BS English program, candidates must submit transcripts from all previous colleges attended. The minimum GPA requirement is 2.50/4.00 from their last degree program. For BS Business Administration with Accounting students need 3 years of experience as an accountant plus one-year coursework in accounting. Graduate students need valid GMAT scores and proof of English language proficiency (minimum score of 550) if not native speakers of English.
