Meet Harcharan Singh, the newly appointed chairman
Harcharan Singh has quickly risen to power, thanks to his experience as an entrepreneur. At just 24 years old, Harcharan started and managed his own software company until he sold it three years later. He spent most of his free time reading self-help books and attending seminars on leadership development. Shortly after selling his company, Harcharan became interested in public service and joined several government committees before being appointed to head PSCA by Pakistani Prime Minister Farooq Abidi. I want to make Pakistan safer through technology, he says, and will use my past experiences as an entrepreneur to do that.
Becoming an employee of the government authority
Most government jobs require you to take and pass exams that test your knowledge and skill. Although there are general guidelines for each type of position, most jobs have specific requirements that include prior work experience, educational level, language skills, physical ability or residency in certain geographic areas. It’s best to check with employers directly to get more information on how they screen applicants before applying. If you do pass an exam and are selected as a finalist, you may need to meet additional qualifications—like background checks—prior to being offered employment.
