The History of PMA

Like any other nation, Pakistan relies on a strong military to protect it and its people. The country has multiple military academies where aspiring soldiers can prepare themselves to serve in an elite force that is often associated with patriotism and dedication. The history of these academies dates back to 1942, when British forces constructed a training academy in Abbottabad. Upon independence, Pakistani officials transformed it into what we now know as PMA Kakul (the current location of PAF College Sargodha). With such rich history and tradition behind it, it’s no wonder many talented men and women are interested in joining PAF.

Applications, Requirements and Timeline

The PMA 150 long course will open 150 slots for entry into 2nd year at MBTI on 17 September, 2019. The last date to apply is 20 January, 2020. Applicants should have a bachelors degree from any recognized university with minimum aggregate of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA. Strong candidates can be exempted from some of these requirements based on their performance in admission tests like PST and PIAT conducted by Joint Admission Committee (JAC). Candidates must also be between 20-25 years old as of 1 September, 2020 and must have passed their intermediate exams with subjects English and Mathematics (or equivalent) separately at least one year before applying to JAC admission test process.

The Pre-PMA Exam – PSAT and PST

If you’re interested in becoming a cadet at PMA, you’ll have to take a three-part test. The first part is called National Testing Service (NTS) – PSAT and PST. In addition to being a prerequisite, it also serves as an initial recruitment process. Once you’ve successfully passed it, your name will be forwarded to Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB). If you get selected by ISSB through its own entry tests, then your name will be forwarded to PMA where they hold their own exams – Combat Efficiency Test (CET) and Intelligence Proficiency Test (IPT). You need at least two passes out of four exams to become eligible for entry into PMA’s Pre-PMA Course.

The PAF Air Wing

It is a rewarding experience to belong to any wing of Pakistan Air Force. The PAF Air Wing consists of both cadets and regular force officers and is responsible for defending Pakistani airspace against intruders, providing close air support to ground troops, and conducting strategic aerial reconnaissance missions. If you’re keen on taking up a career in aviation, apply for PAF’s air wing as soon as possible—and here’s why: In recent years, due to expansion and development within its system, PAF has been consistently improving on its fleet strength by procuring new aircraft from different countries.

What Next? How to Prepare for the Exam?

However, what’s not widely known is that you can also apply for a walk-in interview with only your intermediate exam results. Candidates who do not pass APCE IV but have an Intermediate pass are eligible to appear in a walk-in test under sub category Other Qualified Candidates and may select their respective provincial/army board. This reduces your preparation time considerably.
