22,000 New Jobs: FGEI and FPSC Announce Major Recruitment Drive for Lecturers

FGEI and FPSC have announced that 22,000 new jobs will be filled in the next 18 months as part of an extensive recruitment drive for lecturers. The drive will be carried out by the Federal Government Educational Institutions (FGEI) on behalf of the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC), and will see both universities and colleges around the country being encouraged to fill at least 200 vacancies each per month from August until February next year, after which time applications will be opened up to local schools, who will be tasked with hiring 10 teachers per month until their positions are filled by the beginning of 2021.

Scope of the positions

The Federal Government of Ethiopia (FGE) announced a major recruitment drive to fill 22,000 jobs by 2022. The positions are posted by both Federal Government entities (FGEIs) as well as Public Universities. The jobs on offer include lecturers in Geography & Environmental Studies; English Language & Literature; Mass Communication; History & International Relations; Peace & Conflict Studies; Law; Psychology & Sociology. Candidates are expected to be proficient in writing and speaking English fluently, among other key requirements.

Selection criteria

Those candidates will be selected who have a Master’s degree in English or Literature with a B grade. And they also have to pass English language test with 50% marks. All these criteria is mandatory to join these jobs. Applicants only male candidates can apply for these jobs so applicants should not apply if you are female because all positions of lecturers are available only for males.

December 31, 2021—March 15, 2022 (extended) FPSC has announced a major recruitment drive to hire 22,000 new lecturers in public sector colleges across Pakistan. The number of new positions is expected to increase by 10% each year over five years. The program will be implemented by FPSC in collaboration with Federal Government Educational Institutions Islamabad (FGEI). This recruitment drive is part of a larger initiative to improve education standards in Pakistan’s public sector colleges. Lecturer jobs are currently available at all levels from assistant lecturer up to senior lecturer and professor. Each applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher as well as relevant teaching experience and relevant professional certification(s). A competitive salary package will be offered based on qualifications and experience.

Terms and conditions

To apply for these lectureships, you need to be a graduate of an accredited institution with at least five years of teaching experience. Candidates with a Masters or PhD degree in their chosen subject area will also be considered, but with fewer vacancies (in accordance with Ministry rules). Candidates should have exceptional skills in their field, as well as fluency in English. The ad specifies that candidates should not have more than 10 years’ experience of teaching adults; they must also not have more than 20 years’ overall experience. All appointments are initially made on contract basis, but lecturers can apply for permanent jobs if they succeed.

Salary package

The range of salary package is from PKR 250000 to 350000 based on qualification and experience. The government will provide provident fund, EOBI pension, leave benefits along with other allowances including housing loans as well as tuition fee support. How to apply?

FGEI and Federal Public Service Commission announced their new recruitment drive to recruit 22,000 lecturers. The post is open to all Pakistani citizens who fulfill the following requirements: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; At least 2 years of experience as a teacher at any level; Fluency in English (essential). Last date of application submission is October 16th 2022. Interviews will be held starting October 23rd 2022. Lectures will start work November 1st 2022.

Other announcements

On June 21st 2018, Prof. Javaid Iqbal Muhammad at a press conference that he was resigning from his post as chairman of Federal Government Employees Institute (FGEI). He said that he had served his country in various capacities for over 40 years and now it was time to spend more time with his family. Prof Muhammad took over from ex-chairman Babar Hayat Cheema who became federal information minister. The new president of institute is Dr Mohammad Asif Khan Tareen who earlier served as FGEI general secretary. Federal government employees are paid more than 60 percent less than civil servants working in Islamabad. It is estimated that salaries make up only 5 percent of total spending on public sector employment.
