Do I need to take an exam or test?
There is no entrance exam or test for applying to be a teacher in Pakistan. All you need is your Bachelors’ degree. However, certain jobs require specialized training, such as for a physics teacher (the minimum qualification is a masters). If you’re interested in entering teaching as a professional career, it’s worth doing an internship or two before getting involved with hiring managers at schools. Internships can help you decide if education is really where you want to spend your time and energy. It will also show that you have some experience in education already and aren’t just going into it blind. How long is the application process?
As with any government job, it can take some time. If you apply for an elementary teacher position, you’ll have to go through six steps in order to complete your application and be considered for an interview. First, you must submit a completed application packet with all necessary documents. Next, you need to send in your transcripts. Then comes your fingerprinting; after that is your on-line testing which consists of one multiple choice test followed by two essay tests. Finally, applicants are subject to a comprehensive background check. The entire process can take four months or longer depending on how quickly each stage is completed and how many candidates there are competing for open positions.
